Bonaire cruise port guide: what to do in your hours ashore
Cruise ships tie up right in front of Kralendijk, Bonaire's small capital, so you step straight onto the waterfront. Bonaire is quieter and more nature-focused than Aruba: the whole coastline is a protected marine park and the reefs start a few metres from shore.

Bonaire is famous for reefs you can reach from the beach. Anyone entering the water in the marine park needs a nature fee tag; tour operators usually arrange it.

A limestone staircase (closer to 70 steps than 1,000) down to one of the island's best-known dive and snorkel sites, north of town.

Is the Bonaire cruise pier in town?
Yes. Ships dock in front of Kralendijk; shops and cafés are a few steps away.
What currency does Bonaire use?
The US dollar.
Can I snorkel straight from the beach?
Yes, at many sites, but you need a marine park nature fee tag. Tour operators usually include or arrange it.
How much time should I keep before all aboard?
Plan to be back at the pier at least an hour before departure. Taxis are limited on busy days, so do not leave the return to the last minute.
